On Sunday July 16, 2023, a crowd of people, young and old, defied the heat of the day and came to honor "Karagiozi of the refugees". The start of the activities of the Panhellenic Shadow Theater Association, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, began with the shadow troupe "The Tales of Karagiozis". The event, with free entry, was hosted in a dreamy space, in the courtyard of the old school, in the refugee village of Nea Amissos, Xanthi.
The Volunteer Association of the village "To Thymitari", with the support of the Topeiro Municipality, took care of the invitation and the participation of the village, the cleanliness of the area and the organizational issues.
The action started with the figure-making Workshop, by Natasa Michailidou, at the Association's kiosk, with the children getting to know or re-remember the heroes of the Greek Shadot Theater. They painted figures, cut them out, attached them with double nails and a straw for a handle, took their figure with instructions, to continue at home, to make their own heroes.
​Then followed the original show "Once in a while words can take root" (text by Apostolos Domtzidis), based on a traditional Greek fairy tale from Thrace and Pontus. The "Ekfrasis" Music Workshop, curated by Apostolos Dimos, dressed the show musically, giving it the magic of live music, just like in the past.
In the end, the dance of Karagiozis continued in front of the scene, with the participation of the audience! Among them are people from various cultural - and not only - institutions of the region.
A little bit of the forest behind the berde, a little bit of the music, a little bit of Elon Musk's satellites that appeared in the sky, as Karagiozis sang, contributed to the creation of a unique atmosphere! What more could one ask for on a summer evening?

On April 1, 2022, the shadow group "Tales of Karagiozis" was presented on the show "Invitation au voyage" of the Arte channel, the largest cultural channel in Europe that broadcasts live in two languages in French and German.

The travelling exhibition "All arts for Karagiozis" travelled to Zakynthos, Zante island, from 26/7 to 26/8/2021. More than 100 new sculptures were presented in the exhibition featuring metal figures of the traditional shadow theater. 

From 30/8/2020 until 27/9/2020 the exhibition "All arts for Karagiozis" was held at the Lyceum of Greek Women in Xanthi. The exhibition was very well received and many people have visited it. Articles on the exhibition were published in various media. 

​The unveiling event of the metal figure Karagiozis, designed by Domtzidis Apostolos, took place at Elliniko Ioannina on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at the "Theodoros Papagiannis" Museum of Contemporary Art. Karagiozis returned to Epirus, to the place where the process of his integration into the Greek becoming began. For the first time in the history of shadow theater, Karagiozis captures his shadow and takes an equal position among sculptures of contemporary art. Below are photos from the event.
