Our presentation on the Cultural channel Arte and on the show "Invitation au voyage"

On April 1, 2022, the shadow group "Tales of Karagiozis" was presented on the show "Invitation au voyage" of the Arte channel, the largest cultural channel in Europe that broadcasts live in two languages in French and German.

The award in the panhellenic one-act playwriting competition

​Domtzidis Apostolos participated in the panhellenic one-act  playwriting competition on the subject of the woman of Asia Minor. His work "Manolis Ganios, the lucky one" won the first prize. Related reports below:

The Exhibition "All arts for Karagiozis"

On Sunday, August 30, 2020, the exhibition "All Arts for Karagiozis" started its journey with the first stop being the Lyceum of Greek Women of Xanthi. The exhibition travels all over Greece showcasing Karagiozis' relationship with the arts, as well as artworks of collaborators of the shadow group "The Tales of Karagiozis". 

Unveiling of the Karagiozis' metal figure in Elliniko, Ioannina

Wednesday, August 12th, 2020, was a big day for our group and for Karagiozis. The unveiling event of the Karagiozis' metal figure , designed by Domtzidis Apostolos, took place in Elliniko, Ioannina, at the "Theodoros Papagiannis" Museum of Contemporary Art. Karagiozis returned to Epirus, to a place that holds a special place in its history and evolution. For the first time in the history of shadow theater, Karagiozis equally stands among sculptures of contemporary art.

The publication of our second book
​"The three fools"

The second book by Domtzidis Apostolos entitled "The three fools" was published. This is a new play​ of Karagiozis based on the homonymous folk tale. The book cover page and back cover are illustrated by the great naif painter Mrs. Garyfallia Bari, who was inspired by the work of our Shadow Theater group.

Distinction in the short story competition of the National History Museum

The collection of short stories "1 phrase and 821 words for 1821" was published by the National Historical Museum. The publication was the result of the homonymous competition. Among the stories that stood out is "The visit" written by the shadow player of our group Domtzidis Apostolos. 

Painting exhibition for the shadow theater

The great naif painter Mrs. Garyfalia Bari created paintings for the shadow theater with moments from the performances of the shadow grup "Tales of Karagiozis" as well as figures by Domzidis Apostolos. The exhibition took place for the first time in Alexandroupolis on November 2nd, 2019.

Our participation in the 4th International Festival of Kastellorizo ​​'Beyond Borders'​

The Shadow Theater Group "The Tales of Karagiozis" had the honor of being invited to the 4th International Festival of Historical Documentary "Beyond Borders" taking place in Kastellorizo, from August 25th to September 1st, 2019. During the Festival we presented the performances "The three pieces of advice", "Alexander the Great and the Cursed Snake" as well as "The Wedding of Barbagiorgos".

Our Participation in the 10th Sculpture Symposium

The Shadow Theater Group "The Tales of Karagiozis" had the honor to participate in the 10th Sculpture Symposium at Elliniko, Ioannina. We presented the play "The Wedding of Barbagiorgos" in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art "Theodoros Papagiannis" on Thursday 22/8/2019​.

The summer tour of 2018 in the Peloponnese

Pictures from the summer tour of our group with the Poetry and Folkale Academy in the prefecture of Laconia!
25 performances with over 3,000 spectators. Folktales and Karagiozis met at the summer events of the Municipalities of Sparta and Monemvasia in order to promote the effort to make Vamvakou "The village of folktales"!

Creation of our permanent exhibition in Vamvakou, Laconia

On Saturday, November 18th, 2017, the inauguration of the School of the Poetry and Folktale Academy took place in Vamvakou, Laconia. The first floor of the School hosts the permanent exhibition of our group for the Greek shadow theater.

Presentation of our group by ERT (Greek National Television)

The ERT1 show "Pame Allios" came to our workshop on Sunday, January 29th, 2017. Our group was presented and we had the opportunity to talk live about our favorite Karagiozis! You can watch the excerpt from the next video.

The publication of the book "The three pieces of advice"

In May 2016, the first book by Apostolos Domtzidis was published. "The three pieces of advice" are a new play for Karagiozis' theater written by our shadow player and was based on the homonymous traditional Greek folktale.

The educational program "The Tales of Karagiozis"

Natasa Michailidou with the help of Domtzidis Apostolos created the educational program "The Tales of Karagiozis". This program has been presented (since September 2014) to thousands of pupils of Primary Schools and Kindergartens. It has the approval of the Ministry of Education and is part of the wider circle of educational programs of Mrs. Michailidou entitled "The young archaeologists of Thrace".

Our award in Patras

Our group participated in the 5th Greek Shadow Theater Competitions that took place from April 3rd to 6th, 2014 in Patras. The shadow player of our group Domtzidis Apostolos was awarded the Motion Skills Award.
